Sgt. Douglas J. Riney, 26, stationed out of Fort Hood, died on October 20th from wounds received from hostile enemy forces. Sgt. Riney was supporting Operation Freedom’s Sentinel. He was deployed in June of 2016. Sgt. Riney’s awards and decorations include: Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, four Army Achievement Medals, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with three campaign stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon and NATO Medal.
