Lampasas Retail Business Up

The sales tax checks went out this week to cities and counties across the state for their part of the state sales tax that was collected by retail outlets in August. The checks to cities in Lampasas County showed the following:
Lampasas got $145, 474, up from $125, 473 on the same month last
year by 15.94%.
Kempner got $10, 939, down from $12, 715 on the same month last
year by -13.96%.
Lometa's check was $6, 242, down from $6, 575 on the same month
last year by -5.06%.
Sales tax reports always reflect business conditions two months ago. The taxes collected by stores in one month are submitted to the state during the next month, then sent back to the cities in the following month.
